List of available wines.

Dear Clients, Dear Friends,

It was with great emotion that I bottled, on June 5th, my first vintage of Chenin Blanc.

Up until 1947 my grandfather, Armand, produced white wine from grapes planted on the hills of St. Nicolas, passing on to us these precious bottles.

1947- 2007, it has been 60 years since our cellars have seen white wine’s slow effervescence and discrete fermentation.

Destiny ? This new “Ch’nin” was born under a lucky star…
Hoping it will give you as much pleasure to taste, as I had making it a reality.

Sincerely,

Frédéric MABILEAU

THE TRUTH IS IN THE GLASS…

Available now, our Saumur Blanc simply named “Chenin Blanc.”, already presents a crowd-pleasing profile.
Its golden yellow color has a brilliant and sparkling charm that catches the eye. However, it is the nose where the fireworks start with a subtle background of passion fruit, grapefruit and other citrus fruits delicately coupled with jasmine and honeysuckle.

On the palate the wine explodes with a tense, mineral freshness, balanced by a rich and buttery texture at the finish. Flavors of quince, passion fruit and grapefruit offer a smooth sweetness throughout.

The constant freshness makes this wine irresistible.

Mon pere ce Heros…

After the film “The Blood of the Vine (Le Sang de la Vigne)” won a gold medal at the Grand Jury Oenovideo (an international festival of film documentaries on wine ), Joelle Stechel returned to share our daily life as a splendid, intimate work passed on through generations.

This touching film will take you to the heart of our family, through my father Jean Paul, my son Charly and me. Harvest time serves as a frame for this story and is the perfect stage to bring our deepest feelings to the surface. So click on the following links and enter in the little universe of our family...

Salon des Vins de Loire 2008, A Showering of Medals…

The competition of the Wines of the Loire Valley, more commonly called Liger, rewards the best wines of the Loire by region. This year the 2008 professional jury, brought together for the Salon des Vins de Loire, awarded all of our wines which we had presented to them.

Our Bourgueil “Racines” 2006 brought us a gold, our St. Nicolas de Bourgueil “Les Coutures” 2006 was given silver as well as “Les Rouilleres” 2006.

The year 2006 has given us passionate wines and the “Racines,” the only wine available of these three standouts, is a perfect illustration.

Bourgueil “Racines” 5 Stars...

The English review, “Decanter”- magazine specializing on the international scene, has again this year placed our Bourgueil among the best three wines of 2005.

Based on a blind test-tasting of more than a hundred wines, our wine was designated “Award Winner” and awarded five stars.

The tasting commentary stressed the subtle marriage of wooded vanilla and a generous fruitiness of red berries.
Happy are those who still have a few bottles of this vintage, but the others reassure us that the 2006, in bottle since last August, is already living up to any expectations.

Our Shift to Organic Production

As seen in the adjacent document (click to enlarge), we began in 05/10/2007 to use only organic production methods. After three years under the surveillance of the organic certification group, Ecocert, we will be able to claim the title AB (organic agriculture).
To produce organically contributes to a lasting world preserving the biodiversity and the soils’ fertility but it is also optimizes the maturity and obtains a better quality organoleptique (taste, aroma, texture).

In practice, organic wine guarantees the natural treatment of the vines and soils, without pesticides or herbicides. Therefore, we protect our vines only with natural products such as sulfur and copper sulfate against different types of mildew. Already for years we have practiced weeding and working the soil between the rows. Which removes the need for all toxic chemicals and on the other hand allows for the vines to regulate themselves and maintain reasonable, more optimal water demands.

This choice, in line with winemaking, is motivated by the desire to obtain a high quality grape with a perfect maturity: essential elements for acquiring a pleasing, pure fruit flavor in a wine.
